Les comparto una investigación sobre el estado de la red Tor en México que hicimos con Vasilis Ververis, y cómo el prestador de servicio de internet Telmex bloquea desde finales de 2015 7 números de direcciones IP de las autoridades directorio de la red Tor. https://es.globalvoices.org/2020/05/28/en-mexico-el-mas-grande-operador-de-… Tras la publicación el proveedor aceptó que realiza el bloqueo, dice que es para mitigar un ataque de ransomware. Lanzamiento de Wahay viernes 5 de junio (was: Fwd: Wahay: Mumble + Onion Service)

Hi, I would go in Spanish as this event is going to be in Spanish. At the end of the email I forward the email I send to tor-talk. Hola, este viernes a las 18h GMT -5 será el lanzamiento de Wahay. Este es un sistema seguro y autónomo de conferencias de audio que une el poder de Mumble con Tor. Es parecido a Zoom en el sentido en el que se puede crear una reunión y otras personas se suman a la misma. Por detrás Wahay es muy diferente, cuando alguien crea la reunión, se inicia un servidor de Mumble que se publica como servicio Onion a la red Tor. El link de la reunión es la url .onion a la que otras personas pueden sumarse. Evidentemente la experiencia de usuario también es diferente. Para empezar es solo conferencia de audio y la misma es más parecida a utilizar walkie talkie en el sentido de que una persona habla a la vez y configuramos Mumble para que funcione con push to talk y así evitar los problemas de eco. En resumen es un sistema seguro, autónomo y descentralizado para reuniones de audio virtual. We are an organization based in Quito - Ecuador that creates FLOSS applications for online privacy and security. Our latest project is call Wahay that combines two great projects: Mumble and Tor. The user interface is similar to Zoom, where you can start a meeting or join a meeting. When you start a Wahay meeting, in the background it starts a Mumble server (Grumble) and publish it as a Onion Service. To join the meeting other people would copy the onion address into the Wahay client and in the background it would start a torify Mumble that would connect to the Onion Address. To simplify the audio configuration in Mumble it automatically starts in push to talk mode where you would use right control key to talk. The user experience is more like a Walkie Talkie than to a conventional VoIP conference application. At the moment it is available for Linux and in the near future we plan to make it compatible versions for Windows and Mac. We have installation instructions for several Linux distributions[2]. You should be able to join a Wahay meeting with a torify Mumble in any operating system. There is work in progress in Mumla (Android Mumble client - Plumble fork) to make it friendly to join torify Mumble[3]. You might want to take a look to that nice project. Wahay is GPL v3 and you can find the code in Github[4]. If you speak Spanish you could listen to how it works in this radio interview[5].
