Hi everyone, I've attached a txt file with some feedback about the support portal. Some of it is about things that aren't working, and some are suggested edits to the q&a templates. Something I have yet to do is test the whole thing using new Tor Browser 8.0 features. Cygwin dirmngr and Tor Browser for Windows

Hi, I'm trying to use Cygwin dirmngr to use "Tor Browser for Windows".: https://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-users/2018-June/060736.html I got as far as finding a way to get it working by starting "Tor Browser\Browser\TorBrowser\Tor\tor.exe" then dirmngr is working through Tor. Strangely, if I click "Tor Browser\Start Tor Browser" it does not work; dirmngr failed at the following step: $ dirmngr --homedir ~/try --use-tor -vvv --debug-all --server OK Dirmngr 2.2.8-unknown at your service KS_GET -- 0x6C6ACD6417B3ACB1 dirmngr[6496.0]: DBG: chan_3 <- KS_GET -- 0x6C6ACD6417B3ACB1 dirmngr[6496.0]: DBG: dns: libdns initialized (tor mode) dirmngr[6496.0]: DBG: dns: getsrv(_pgpkey-https._tcp.hkps.pool.sks-keyservers.net): Server indicated a failure dirmngr[6496.0]: command 'KS_GET' failed: Server indicated a failure <Unspecified source> dirmngr[6496.0]: DBG: chan_3 -> ERR 219 Server indicated a failure <Unspecified source> ERR 219 Server indicated a failure <Unspecified source> It looks like dirmngr can't connect to tor when tor is started by doing "Tor Browser\Browser\firefox.exe". Given the above I have some questions: 1) Any idea why dirmngr can't connect to Tor when started the usual way? 2) What are the difference between starting "tor.exe" and "firefox.exe"? Building Community in Southern Europe

Hello everyone, Sorry I haven't been around for community meetings. These past few weeks have been a bit busy. Soon I'm going to be heading over to Portugal, and I'll also spend some time in Spain. I'll be there for the whole summer. I remember that after one of our NYC meetings we discussed that the (known) Tor community in southern Europe is quite small. While I'm there I'd like to try to build it up and get the people there more involved (if that's fine with TPO). So far I reached out and set up a meeting with one university student who is interested in Internet freedom and privacy, but I'd rather not put all of my eggs into one basket. Are there any tips about how I should go about trying to build up a community while I'm there? Any places that typically work in community building efforts (libraries, schools, etc.), especially for meeting space? I'd love any tips on how I should approach this. Soft-launch of support.torproject.org [call for translation help!]

Hello Tor community! We are very happy to say we now have a support website[1]! This is a soft-launch because the site is not yet full translated. That is why we are not doing a big announcement yet (eg blog post). We would like to do a soft-lauch of the site so the community knows about it and we can get some help translating it to at least our tier 1 languages [2]. At the moment our site is only translated to Spanish and French. If you would like to help us with translation please check out our wiki page explaining the necessary steps to do so [3]. If you encounter any issues please let us know. Soon (in July!) we will have our new Localization Project Coordinator and they will be a person fully dedicated to help our translators community help us! But till then asking for help here on this list might be the best way for us to help you :) This is the first site we are launching as part of our 'website redesign' project[4] and we are looking forward to have it fully translated so we can share it with the world! Wikipedia page review

Hello folks! Hope everyone has had a fantastic beginning to the week. I recently reviewed the English Tor Wikipedia page as per our conversation at the last meeting. All and all, it was accurate; there were probably some parts that were understated and others that were overstated, but there was nothing too glaring. I'm not sure who will be dealing with the changes, but I can chat with them as well if further information is needed. I did have a few suggestions, though they mostly pertain to formatting and elaborating on existing content: 1. 'Tor Browser' header could use a more concise explanation and feature list 2. 'Third party applications' subheader could use some loving as you can see 3. 'Levels of Security' header - why is this a million miles below the browser section? Could use revisions as well 4. 'Tor Messenger' bar should be removed - as it's no longer current or reccomended, it would be better to not showcase it any longer. If anyone had opinions or additions to this list feel free to mention them! Thanks a lot, see you all tomorrow. 😊 -- jaruga

It's mainly stuff that I'm working on and stuff that I know Colin and Gus are working on. If I left out something you're working on, it's nothing personal! Once we have a good list of all that we want to accomplish through October, I will clean it up and add more of a narrative to the top.
