Hi all,
My name is Mona and I'm excited to join the tor Outreachy project.
I have been working in the software industry almost a year now. My current role is QA Developer, but my first role was a combined "QA and Support" role. My first company was privacy-oriented and I was excited that I would have the opportunity to learn about online privacy, but it was acquired by the current one, whose goals are quite different.
Naturally I felt this project would be interesting both in terms of my own learning goals and in terms of my past experience working in support. My formal education is a B.Sc. in Computer Science and an M.A. in Cultural Anthropology. I do have a lot of experience writing in English but I am also interested in the opportunity for interns to do some front-end development. I know the basics of HTML/CSS but most of my coding experience has been in scripting and currently QA automation (mostly Javascript now, interfacing with a REST API and cucumber using Appium and webdriverIO, but I've also used Java and Python).
Because I'm currently working full-time, I expect to undertake my work for the contribution period primarily on the weekends with a little here and there during weekdays, but I'm also taking a week "vacation" from work the week of the 14th-18th, and most likely a couple days again during the last few days of the contribution period. I'll make sure to be available online for the Monday meetings as well. Please let me know if my plan "makes sense" on your end.
I'm looking forward to getting to know the tor community and other Outreachy participants.
Best,
Mona
