Hi all,
My name is Mona and I'm excited to join the tor Outreachy project.
I have been working in the software industry almost a year now. My current role is QA Developer, but my first role was a combined "QA and Support" role. My first company was privacy-oriented and I was excited that I would have the opportunity to learn about online privacy, but it was acquired by the current one, whose goals are quite different.
Naturally I felt this project would be interesting both in terms of my own learning goals and in terms of my past experience working in support. My formal education is a B.Sc. in Computer Science and an M.A. in Cultural Anthropology. I do have a lot of experience writing in English but I am also interested in the opportunity for interns to do some front-end development. I know the basics of HTML/CSS but most of my coding experience has been in scripting and currently QA automation (mostly Javascript now, interfacing with a REST API and cucumber using Appium and webdriverIO, but I've also used Java and Python).
Because I'm currently working full-time, I expect to undertake my work for the contribution period primarily on the weekends with a little here and there during weekdays, but I'm also taking a week "vacation" from work the week of the 14th-18th, and most likely a couple days again during the last few days of the contribution period. I'll make sure to be available online for the Monday meetings as well. Please let me know if my plan "makes sense" on your end.
I'm looking forward to getting to know the tor community and other Outreachy participants.
Best,
Mona

Hello everyone,
This is Debora from Paraguay, another Outreachy applicant.
I'm very excited to start collaborating with the Community Team at Tor Project during the coming weeks!
As for my background: I have previously worked as a project assistant in intergovernmental organizations supporting my team with communication tasks and routinely organizing international conferences, trainings and workshops. I absolutely enjoyed working in an international environment, working on different activities and in different languages - I speak English, Spanish and sometimes French ;)
Since my last position last year, I decided to take a sabbatical to learn how to code. I'm now completing an online program (the Front End Development Nanodegree by Udacity). In this course, I have worked on assignments using HTML, CSS and JavaScript and I would love to be able to expand on my new skills at Tor Project, whenever possible.
I am currently looking at some issues to fix on GitLab but if you need help or support with a specific task, please let me know as I am available full-time.
Have a nice Sunday and I look forward to the meeting tomorrow!
Debora

Hi everyone,
My name is Anthonia Okafor from Nigeria and I am pleased to be here.
I have a B.Tech in Computer Science and an M.Sc in Information Systems Management. I have worked as an Implementation Specialist for a startup electronic health organisation for almost a year. My role as an Implementation Specialist involved overseeing the setup of electronic health system in clients sites from project planning through execution. The job was an exciting one as it promised lots of benefits such as exposure, experience and career growth, but unfortunately the organisation, went bankrupt and closed its branch in the state where I reside.
My journey into Front End Web development started in May, 2018 and my skills include HTML, CSS and JavScript. I am currently undergoing a remote internship program in Nigeria which will be completed this month. The internship program is unpaid but gives me an opportunity to work on projects in a team and as an individual. I look forward to collaborating with the Tor Project community and will be available for Monday meetings.
Regards, Anthonia.
