Can a few people do a quick test of the Windows builds of 3.0rc1:
https://archive.torproject.org/tor-package-archive/torbrowser/3.0rc1/
We patched binutils for this release to fix a reproducibility issue, and
it would be nice to verify everything is OK before release.
Other reports are also helpful, of course.
Here's the changelog:
* All Platforms:
* Update Firefox to 17.0.11esr
* Update Tor to 0.2.4.18-rc
* Remove unsupported PDF.JS addon from the bundle
* Bug #7277: TBB's Tor client will now omit its timestamp in the TLS
handshake.
* Update Torbutton to 1.6.4.1
* Bug #10002: Make the TBB3.0 blog tag our update download URL for now
* Windows
* Bug #10102: Patch binutils to remove nondeterministic bytes in
compiled binaries
* Linux
* Bug #10049: Fix architecture check to work from outside TBB's directory
* Bug #10126: Remove libz and firefox-bin, and strip unstripped binaries
* Misc: Disable Firefox updater during compile time (in addition to pref)

I can reproduce a crash of
tor-browser-gnu-linux-x86_64-2.4.18-rc-1-dev-en-US
(10/10 times)
simply by opening webtropia.com or also https://www.webtropia.com (I'm
sorry for the "advertisement" here but I figured it might be useful for
you to reproduce it)
steps to reproduce
1) start tor-browser-gnu-linux-x86_64-2.4.18-rc-1-dev-en-US
2) type "webtropia.com" into the urlbar and hit enter
3) wait for ~60 seconds -> crash
I can't rule out active attack attempts so it might be a whise thing to
use some throw-away VM for testing.
Can anyone confirm this is happening also on your system?
I can _not_ reproduce this crash with
tor-browser-gnu-linux-x86_64-2.4.17-rc-1-dev-en-US
ps: sorry for breaking the thread but I subscribed just this moment
Hi,
I could need some help testing an OS X bundle made with Gitian and the
new cross-compiler for Firefox ESR24:
https://people.torproject.org/~mikeperry/builds/3.5-alpha-1pre/TorBrowserBu…
sha256sum fb67c1d1d47d8f3358231161fde27213920bf4659f228c9805c1e4b274a7145b
Does the bundle start for you properly and can you visit a couple of
websites? Which OS X version was used (I am interested in tests on all
supported OS X versions ranging from 32bit 10.6.8-10.9)?
Thanks,
Georg
Hi everyone!
I know we have a few people on this list who use OSX 10.9 and also that many of
you have been very helpful with testing lately. If you're bored with just
running my fantastic bundles, this could be a new fun project for you to test.
Andreas has made some sandbox profiles for OSX 10.9 + TBB 3.0 and it would be
great if he could get some feedback on them. It doesn't need to be anything
complex -- just "this makes my TBB behave funny in ways I don't understand"
would be meaningful for a start.
For anyone not yet on 10.9, I believe he will be working to extend the
sandboxes to other versions soon.
I'd really appreciate it if you could help him out! Feel free to follow up on
list with questions or comments.

Subject: [tor-talk] OSX sandbox available for tbb3 (10.9 only)
Hi list,
There is now an initial sandboxed tbb3 ready for testing. Currently,
only OSX 10.9 is supported, but making it work all the way down to 10.6
is not unlikely.
Downloads and uploads:
only from your downloads-directory
Stuff not working in this release:
Flash
You can get the release here:
https://github.com/trams242/tor-browser-bundle
The specific 'release' so to speak is available here:
https://github.com/trams242/tor-browser-bundle/releases
To use the release you will need to have TBB3 somewhere, i tested with
TorBrowserBundle-3.0-beta-1-osx32_en-US.zip. Will probably not work with
older releases.

Hello everyone!
Some new bundles. We're waiting for a new release of Tor (0.2.4.18-rc) so the
beta/rc bundles and TBB 3.0 bundles will come out after that, but for now here
are the stable bundles.
These include a path fix to make sure people on OS X Mavericks can find the
geoip file. I'd appreciate any extra testing on OSX to confirm that it works
for all versions. Otherwise, not a lot of changes here (besides new Firefox) so
standard testing applies. I'll send another email when the 2.4.x bundles are
out.

Hello everyone,
We've got a partially matching build for 3.0beta1:
https://people.torproject.org/~linus/downloads/tbb-3.0-beta-1-f8998987409e2…
Note that Windows has some minor issues related to
https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/10026, but due to the
need to get a 17.0.10esr release up ASAP, we may end up posting the
bundles with a note about Windows reproducibility anyway.
It's will be especially useful to hear about various Windows and Mac
platforms.
Here's the changelog:
* All Platforms:
* Update Firefox to 17.0.10esr
* Update NoScript to 2.6.8.2
* Update HTTPS-Everywhere to 3.4.2

Another interesting thing to note:
About TorBrowser in the help menu opens a window that says "TorBrowser is
designed by Tor Project, a global community working together to keep the Web
open, public, and accessible to all. Sound interesting? Get invovled!" Tor
Project, global community and Get involved are all hyperlinks to mozilla.org
pages.
