Hi everyone!
We have new alpha bundles available with a Tor release candidate (0.2.3.21-rc), and a new Torbutton which should prevent the exceptions in sandbox evaluation that people were seeing before. If it doesn't we need to know about it. Otherwise all of the normal verification should be sufficient (checking versions, making sure there aren't problems with libevent which was also upgraded, etc.). The OS X Obfsproxy Tor Browser Bundles have also been fixed.
You can find the bundles at: https://people.torproject.org/~erinn/qa/alpha/0.2.3.21-rc/
You have until Sept 11th 2012 13:00 UTC to test and report back before we commit to releasing the current build. As this deadline approaches, if you notice a particular platform that hasn't been tested, please give it a quick spin if you can.
Please email this list directly with results or if you have any questions. Keep in mind that an email saying "I tested TBB on Debian Wheezy and found no bugs" is just as useful as a list of issues.
For testing ideas, see the BuildSignoff wiki page and the Tor Browser Bundle design document for information about different types of tests you can perform: https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/build/BuildSignoff#Documen... https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser/design/#Testing
Thank you for helping us make the Tor Browser Bundle better. Again, please don't hesitate to email if you have questions. If you have any suggestions on things we can do better, please let us know.
Hi everyone,
I tested both the normal Tor Browser Bundle and the Obfsproxy Tor Browser Bundle on Debian Wheezy, OS X 10.7.4, Windows XP, and Windows 7. I had some interesting issues with random crashes and the "... proxy server is refusing connections" error being displayed, but maybe that's just me? Here's what happened:
Debian Wheezy x86_64, tor-browser:
x Empty list of relays and no details about relays in current circuits the first time it's run x Random crashes, maybe it's just me; once while browsing, twice when closing a tab, no messages left in the terminal x When trying to run a second (or third or fourth or nth) time, the "... proxy server is refusing connections" error is displayed
Debian Wheezy x86_64, tor-obfsproxy-browser:
x Empty list of relays and no details about relays in current circuits the first time it's run x When trying to run a second (or third or fourth or nth) time, the "... proxy server is refusing connections" error is displayed
OS X 10.7.4, x86_64, tor-browser:
x Empty list of relays and no details about relays in current circuits the first time it's run x The "... proxy server is refusing connections" error is displayed whenever the Tor Browser starts up
OS X 10.7.4, x86_64, tor-obfsproxy-browser:
x Empty list of relays and no details about relays in current circuits the first time it's run x The "... proxy server is refusing connections" error is displayed whenever the Tor Browser starts up
Windows XP VMware, i686, tor-browser:
x Empty list of relays and no details about relays in current circuits the first time it's run x When trying to run a second (or third or fourth or nth) time, check.torproject.org tells me that there is an update available
Windows XP VMware, i686, tor-obfsproxy-browser:
x Empty list of relays and no details about relays in current circuits the first time it's run x When trying to run a second (or third or fourth or nth) time, check.torproject.org tells me that there is an update available
Windows 7 VMware, i686, tor-browser:
x Empty list of relays and no details about relays in current circuits the first time it's run x When trying to run a second (or third or fourth or nth) time, check.torproject.org tells me that there is an update available
Windows 7 VMware, i686, tor-obfsproxy-browser:

Testing: tor-browser-gnu-linux-x86_64-2.3.21-alpha-1-dev-en-US.tar.gz Platform: Fedora 17 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2450M CPU @ 2.50GHz
Issue #1: On first launch Vidalia displays the relay list and paths however the window that displays information (Location, IP Address, etc) remains empty until second launch. After its launched a second time all of the information appears *except* platform which remains an empty field on all routers in Vidalia.
Issue #2: Every launch has FireFox display "The proxy server is refusing connection"
"Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections."

Issues: Same behaviour as standard bundle.

Not sure if a Vidalia bug exists for this or not.

We've opened https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/6803 for getting to the bottom of this second issue.

I created https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/6806. We can close it as a duplicate if it turns out we already have a ticket for this bug.
