I was directed to this mailing list by a user on #tor IRC, so I'm hoping it's ok to ask for help here.
For the past 2 to 3 months I've been running tor on my pi without any problems. The repository has been great, pulling out the correct ARM binaries, and it setup fine. This morning I tried updating the software, but the step "Checking if tor configuration is valid" fails; there are also 2x seg faults in the terminal output, not sure if this is a repository issue (fetching an x86 binary instead of ARM). The terminal output is here: http://pastebin.com/9Re2jrRe.
Good! And did u Manage to get the pipe ?

Hi, i noticed a problem with tor weather. I should have recieved a email that I qualified for a T-shirt. This never happend. Requirments for getting one: https://www.torproject.org/getinvolved/tshirt.html I think I do fullfill the requirements: -non-exit realy since September 2013 -average bandwith: 32 Mbit/s -10TB of traffic each month -Uptime is nearly 100%, expect of two times when I updated the tor software and about 2hours of maintenance. (total about 2hours) My relay: http://torstatus.blutmagie.de/router_detail.php?FP=858c6b4e7841661f3b6fe6539...
I also found this ticket relating this topic. Tor-weather bug: https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/2461
Thanks for your time. Best Regards Michael
I had a similar issue, I dropped them an email and they got the t shirt sent out.
Thanks for running a relay and happy holidays! On 25 Dec 2013 12:26, "equal-rights.de" equal-rights@gmx.de wrote:

Tor Weather is looking at the uptime. When you stop Tor while updating you reset the counter.

Did you then email donations@tpo? This is a separate, manual process.

Tor weather needs some updating, however it continues to email plenty of relay operators. The reason you didn't get an email is tor weather didn't see your relay matching the uptime requirement,

I think two months is a bit short to be rewarded with a t-shirt from donated resources.
It makes more sense to extend the time but include the total time running ignoring minor disruptions.

I agree with that point, because currently, relay operators have the incentive to not update to the latest Tor version whenever a new version is released, in order to keep the consecutive uptime high. That is probably not in the best interest of Tor.
Maybe Tor Weather could look at the flags instead of the consecutive uptime instead. For example, you typically don't lose your Guard or Stable flag due to a reboot.

I've run several middle relays for over a year but they keep getting knocked down due to circuit creation storms (on RPIs) or powercuts or updates or some other issue. Yes uptime is important, but 100% is not practical for most relay operators. Also, if you want a shirt so badly, donate to Tor! In fact, I just realised I do want a shirt! Tom

I agree there should be another way. I just recently had to start overhttps://atlas.torproject.org/#details/9748228B9BC40C154F74AA9EDFDF698B902C986Fbecause I updated Tor. I don't plan on updating again until two months have passed.

Unpacking tor (from .../tor_0.2.4.19-1~d70.wheezy+1_armhf.deb) ...
You can exclude the 'x86 binary instead of ARM' portion at least.
Try doing a '/etc/init.d/tor start' and see what the result of that is.
Definitely check /var/log/tor for any log output too; and otherwise start tor manually with the same parameters that the init script uses.

Are you using the armhf packages from deb.torproject.org? They are not compatible with the Raspberry Pi. (Bad raspbian people re-using the "armhf" arch string for something that is not compatible with Debian's "armhf" port.)
https://tor.stackexchange.com/q/242/58 has more on this.
Cheers,
